Vincent Joseph scored a first-half hat-trick on his first start for Arsenal U18s as the young Gunners beat Brentford 6-4 at home in an enthralling encounter.

Arsenal have now won their last six league games in succession, with Maalik Hashi, who was on the bench for the first-team in midweek, scoring a brace, while Patrick Stachow also found the net.

Coach Josh Smith rotated his side, with the likes of Abraham Owusu-Gyasi, Hakeem Abubakar, Emerson Nwaneri and Mylo Bernard named on the bench after starting for the U21s in midweek.

Callan Hamill returned from injury and joined Stachow and Joseph in the starting lineup.

Arsenal took the lead after just three minutes as Joseph got his first goal for the club having been found by Elyon Mbala.

Brentford quickly equalised as Jai Nwosu netted a penalty, with the same player giving the visitors the lead in the 21st minute.

Arsenal equalised via a penalty of their own as Hashi scored, with the midfielder then turning provider for Joseph to make it 3-2.

Joseph, remarkably, completed his hat-trick before half time having been set up by captain Teshaun Murisa for his third goal.

The tumultuous nature of the game continued after the break, with Nwosu getting a goal back for Brentford as he completed his own hat-trick.

Arsenal responded with Stachow getting his first goal at this level following a corner from Luis Munoz.

A triple substitution followed as Owusu-Gyasi, Theo Odaji-Ukueku and Emerson Nwaneri all entered the fray for Arsenal.

Jovan Kasujja then scored for Brentford, who trailed 5-4 in an incredible game.

Arsenal added a sixth goal, though, as Emerson Nwaneri teed up Hashi, who got his second of the game.

Smith will be somewhat disappointed to see his side conceded four goals when they have been rather resolute defensively so far this season.

However, Arsenal’s attacking options are of a very high standard and Joseph has now truly announced himself at the club following his switch from Liverpool.
