Fans have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to slam Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez for his showing as the Red Devils lost 2-0 against Chelsea.
Manchester United came into the game winless in 8 to take on a Chelsea side that had a recent dip in form. Michael Carrick's future at the club was in question before the clash, but the club decided to keep him on board for the trip to Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United started the game well and created a lot of chances. The Red Devils were the better side for a lot of the first half and should have been ahead before the break. Matheus Cunha had his goal ruled out for offside, and winger Amad Diallo missed a couple of big chances to give the Red Devils the lead.
The second half was a different story altogether. Chelsea started the half on the front foot and were rewarded after Morgan Rogers gave them the lead. Bryan Mbeumo was dispossessed near the half-circle, and Rogers walked past the Red Devils defence and dinked the ball past Senne Lammens.
Things went from bad to worse as Lisandro Martínez was deemed to have fouled Wesley Fofana in the box and was given a second yellow card after a VAR check. Minutes ago, Martínez had fouled Rogers at the edge of the Red Devils' box and received his first booking. Cole Palmer then converted the penalty given for the foul to make the scoreline 2-0. Despite the Red Devils being a man down for a big part of the second half, the game ended 2-0 as Chelsea were wasteful in attack.
Fans took to X to slam the Argentine defender for his reckless challenge that left the Old Trafford side a man down and gave away the penalty. One fan mockingly thanked Lisandro for his interview, calling out the board and then claimed he wasn't good enough:

What's next for Manchester United after their loss to Chelsea?
The Red Devils will take on Roma at home in the UEFA Champions League in the midweek fixture. Following that is a Premier League fixture against Aston Villa at home.
At the time of writing, the Red Devils are still 16th in the PL table, but if some results go against their favor, they could end the day in the bottom three. Carrick's future is yet to be decided; it remains to be seen what the United board decides regarding his future.
