Morgan Rogers explains Chelsea wondergoal after 'massive' Manchester United victory

Chelsea were in dire need of a result here after losing to Tottenham and Liverpool in their previous two outings, and did exactly what they needed to as they secured a 2-0 victory over the struggling Red Devils.

Rogers’ second-half strike set the Blues on their way as he picked up the ball in midfield and danced through several tackles before dinking a cheeky finish past the onrushing Senne Lammens.

Asked what was going through his head as he made that dancing run, he said: "Just to try to commit the defenders. All of a sudden, I was in on goal and had to stay composed. Luckily it went in."

"A difficult week with a poor result last weekend. We knew we had to come out here strong. In the second half, we stamped our authority and that was really good. We deserved the win.”

He was back in his natural position on Saturday after struggling as a centre-forward against Tottenham last week, and added that he was happy to be back alongside Cole Palmer in the No10.

Asked what his instructions were on the day, he said: "To try to occupy defenders in whatever space it may be. We were interchanging and doing what was necessary to occupy defenders and drag them out.

“We always push each other in training every day. If we're both doing well and the team is doing well, that's the most important.”
