Chelsea fans are fuming with Wesley Fofana despite the 2-0 win over Manchester United. The Blues believe that the Frenchman was playing against them and are calling for him to be sold.
Michael Carrick's side had multiple chances to score in the first half, but failed to make the most of them. Amad Diallo stole the ball off Fofana twice and went through on goal, but his first attempt was saved, while the second one was well over the bar.
Both Chelsea and Manchester United had a goal disallowed in the first half, as Brazilian Estevao Willian and Matheus Cunha were offside before slotting the ball into the back of the net. It remained goalless at the break, despite the sides having enough chances to take the lead.
Chelsea are known for their quick starts in matches and after half-time, and they showed why once again. Morgan Rogers ran through the Red Devils' defence and chipped the ball over Senne Lammens to make it 1-0 in the 50th minute.
Lisandro Martinez picked up two bookings in three minutes to make things worse for the visiting side, and they were down to 10 men just after the hour mark. Cole Palmer managed to squeeze his penalty through despite Lammens getting both hands on the ball, and that was enough for them to pick up all three points.
Despite the win, Chelsea fans are fuming with Wesley Fofana for his mistakes and do not want him to play another match for the club. They posted:
Xabi Alonso spoke about the win and said:
"I think there were different moments in the game. First half was intense, momentums from both sides. United had their chances, we were close as well. We spoke at half-time and the reaction was better. We looked in better control and took the lead."
Chelsea have a few days off before facing Sunderland next weekend. Manchester United have AS Roma on Tuesday, before taking on Aston Villa next weekend.
Xabi Alonso praises Chelsea star after Manchester United win
Xabi Alonso was full of praise for Mike Penders after his clean sheet in the win over Manchester United. He claimed that the goalkeeper had stepped up at the right time and said:
"Not just today, but he was solid against Liverpool. Today, he has shown a good level - another clean sheet. We need to keep going. Mike has overcome the difficult moment that we had here last Saturday. This is part of the development or any goalkeeper, [or] any player."
Mike Penders was thrown into action this month after Emiliano Martinez injured his jaw in the win at Everton.
