Eyebrows were raised when the 31-year-old was not named in the Toffees' squad for the Carabao Cup fourth-round tie with Newcastle United.
Everton stated that the winger was not involved against the Magpies due to a breach of club discipline.
It was later reported that the on-loan Manchester City winger was ommited because he missed training without authorisation on Monday.
In his absence, David Moyes' side went on to beat Newcastle United 3-1 and will face Fleetwood Town in the quarter-finals.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher delivered a succinct verdict on the controversy.
What did Jamie Carragher say about Jack Grealish incident at Everton?
Coincidentally, Everton are facing Newcastle again on Monday, this time in the Premier League.
It remains to be seen if Grealish will be welcomed back into the fold for the clash at St James' Park.
Indeed, speaking after the game, Moyes was non-committal on whether Grealish would be part of his squad.
Given the lack of first-team options Moyes has at his disposal, there is a big chance that Grealish will at least make the squad.
The controversy was briefly brought up on the Overlap Daily on Friday, with Mark Goldbridge commenting that Everton did not miss Grealish in the game.
Carragher then gave a four-word verdict on Grealish, merely saying: "We all make mistakes."
Alan Brazil hits out at what David Moyes said about Jack Grealish after Everton vs Newcastle - 'I don't like that'
What will David Moyes do about Jack Grealish breach at Everton?
There is no doubt that Moyes was clearly peeved with whatever Grealish did this week, and understandably so.
At a time when he already has a lack of options in his first-team squad, he needs his senior pros to not be doing silly things.
And Grealish did do a silly thing, there is no escaping that fact.
But there is absolutely no need to drag this one longer than you need to.
Grealish did wrong, and he was punished by being excluded from the squad against Newcastle.
Now, he should return to the squad for the game...against Newcastle. He did wrong, he was punished, now just hash it out, shake hands, and get back to work.
