Potential Everton addition Kelvin Yeboah
Potential Everton addition Kelvin Yeboah
The Blues are in desperate need of a new striker, after being left with just one after their failure to sign Folarin Balogun.
Thierno Barry has had to take up the burden for David Moyes' side, but he needs help and can't be expected to do it for a full campaign.
Everton appear to be interested in Yeboah and it makes sense, given that he has notched 18 goals in the MLS this season.
There is much more to him than that though, as his latest scenes against Sporting Kansas City shows.
It may well prove that he is exactly what the Toffees need when the market reopens in January
How did Kelvin Yeboah perform against Sporting Kansas City?
Yeboah only took 36 touches in the Allianz Field clash on Thursday, but he was very effective.
He had the most touches in the box with 10 and the most shots in the contest with six, per FotMob data.
The 26-year-old also capped off his performance with a goal in the 88th minute.
The four-cap Italy Under-21 star created two chances for his teammates and made four passes into the final third, showing that he can also be creative.
He also helped out at the other end, with three recoveries and one foul committed.
Why Yeboah could be the perfect fit for Everton
Yeboah looks like he will fit in perfectly with the L3 outfit, as he can operate well when his team don't have much of the ball.
While Minnesota had 57 per cent of the play, the forward had less than 40 touches, so they were not getting him involved a lot.
Moyes' side have averaged 44 per cent of the possession in their last three matches in all competitions, which suggests that the MLS ace would experience a similar feeling.
He has shown that he is capable of trying to make things happen with limited opportunities, which would likely be the case on Merseyside.
If the Blues decide they do not want to go back in for Balogun, Yeboah may well be a perfect alternative addition to the squad for the second-half of the season.
