Arteta makes 9 changes | Predicted Arsenal XI vs Liverpool as quadruple injury boost confirmed

Arsenal take on Liverpool in Sunday’s much-awaited Premier League game at Anfield.

The Gunners suffered a shock Carabao Cup fourth-round exit to Fleetwood Town in midweek.

They were poor in front of goal, missing six big chances, and eventually paid the price on penalties (1-1 after 90 mins).

Arsenal’s attention will now turn to Sunday’s game at Anfield, where they have not won since September 2012.

The Gunners need just a point to move to the top of the league, but manager Mikel Arteta will surely want to end the Anfield hoodoo.

Ahead of the game, the club are set for a quadruple injury boost.

Riccardo Calafiori, Noni Madueke and Christos Tzolis have all travelled to Merseyside today, while Declan Rice is also part of the group.

We believe Arteta could make nine changes from the midweek loss at the Highbury Stadium.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

David Raya is an undisputed starter in Arsenal’s Premier League and Champions League matches, and he should be reinstated in goal ahead of Illan Meslier, who made his Gunners debut in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

The backline should witness three changes. Ezri Konsa and Gabriel Magalhaes are expected to replace Marli Salmon and Cristhian Mosquera in central defence. Calafiori could return as the starting left-back ahead of Piero Hincapie after missing the midweek game with a knock.

Jurrien Timber played 45 minutes on Tuesday before Ben White replaced him at the break. We feel the former could get the nod against Liverpool. Timber is much better than White in one-on-one defending and seems to have better chemistry with Noni Madueke on the right flank too. The duo combined for the opening goal against Lille in the Champions League.

In midfield, we expect a complete overhaul with Martin Zubimendi and Myles Lewis-Skelly making way, while Max Dowman is suspended after his midweek red card. Rice and Bruno Guimaraes could be the likely central midfield pairing against Liverpool, with Martin Odegaard in the number 10 role.

With Tzolis and Madueke back in contention, we expect the duo to start on the left and right wing respectively, with Viktor Gyokeres leading the line for the third straight game.

Kai Havertz had one of his worst-ever games in midweek, missing several big chances, and we would personally leave him out of the XI, though Arteta may have different plans for the German.
