Ruben Dias was keen to reinforce the message that the Manchester City squad win as a team and lose as a team after their 1-0 defeat to Brighton on Saturday.
City had the better of the chances but were unable to find a way past a determined Bart Verbruggen at the Etihad. Yasin Ayari opened the scoring for the visitors early on and Verbruggen's heroics ensured the Seagulls took revenge for their Carabao Cup defeat in midweek.
Elliot Anderson was the star of the show for City, and he was asked to reflect on the display and the defeat at full-time.
"We created loads of chances. Obviously we conceded the goal which was a tough one to take, but we had so many chances and on another day we put those away and we win the game," he told City's in-house media.
"It's always difficult conceding early. It's not what you want at home and we just didn't manage to get that first goal even though we had so many chances."
Despite coming up against a stubborn Brighton defence City continued to push forward in search of an equaliser and Anderson praised the mentality of the team to keep on fighting.
"It wasn't for a lack of fighting or commitment; we gave everything. We were on top for large periods of the game and it looked very promising but it just didn't come.
"Ruben just said in there that we win together and we lose together and he's absolutely right. We've got to improve together as well and we'll look to do that over the next few days and bounce back in the Champions League."
