The Cottagers turned up to Villa Park and certainly had their fair share of the chances in the 1-1 draw.

That didn't stop Nicolas Jackson opening the scoring after John McGinn had missed a penalty.

From there, the Villans were second best and seriously had their keeper to thank for keeping them ahead.

That was the case until an Alex Iwobi corner swung in right under the crossbar.

Suzuki dropped the ball into the net in a shocking moment, but can now learn from what has happened at Chelsea.

Why has Zion Suzuki been compared to Chelsea example at Aston Villa?

The Japan international has been simply superb since coming in from Parma.

There has been nothing truly negative to say about his performances throughout the campaign.

That was until his howler against Fulham.

Dropping what should have been an easy catch cost Unai Emery's side points and is an error that shouldn't be made.

The questions will now be about how Suzuki can recover from this moment and maintain his form.

Jamie Redknapp has suggested Chelsea youngster Mike Penders should be an example after his error against Tottenham was followed by a top performance against Manchester United

Speaking via Sky Sports on Saturday, he said: "He's always in the right position. He's a really great goalkeeper. Mistakes happen. They can lead to goals conceded. What matters is what you do afterward. How you react next.

"Mike Penders could have been the hero last week if they had won the penalty shootout. And today he kept a clean sheet. He made a remarkable recovery. Now it's Zion Suzuki turn to recover in the same way.

"But I'm sure he'll be fine. He seems like a confident athlete, so I'm not too worried."

The latter point will be the general feeling in B6, especially after an overall stunning display against the Cottagers.

Why Suzuki's error vs Fulham was such a shock

There is always going to be an air of surprise when a keeper chucks one into their own net.

That was certainly the case for Suzuki, but especially because of how good he was on the night.

He clocked up four saves and prevented 1.87 expected goals on target.

His best came in the first half as he flicked Oscar Bobb's effort over the bar in a chance worth a stunning 0.37 xG.

Suzuki showed his dominance with one high claim and six recoveries while also proving his class with the ball at his feet again.

A 91 per cent short pass accuracy is made all the better by another five successful long balls at Villa Park.

This made for a stunning goalkeeping performance that truly deserved a clean sheet.

That prompted even more surprise when the own goal made its way over the line.

Villa will now hope Suzuki can take the positives and move on.
