5 duels won, 3 chances created, 24/29 passes completed: 'Special' Chelsea talent makes Alonso…

Chelsea are back to winning ways after claiming a massive 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

It was the ideal response from Xabi Alonso’s side after a shocking 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, before Liverpool eliminated the Blues from the EFL Cup.

The result moved Chelsea back into the top four temporarily, but they could end the weekend there if Liverpool fail to beat Arsenal later today.

After a cagey first half, Saturday’s blockbuster sparked into life after the restart.

Chelsea resumed their trend of scoring early in either half as Morgan Rogers pierced through United’s clueless defence before dinking the opener over Senne Lammens.

Things got worse for United as they were reduced to 10 men after Lisandro Martinez’s atrocious tackle on Wesley Fofana in the box earned him a second booking in four minutes.

Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer converted from the spot, albeit unconvincingly, to put the game beyond United.

Estevao thought he’d marked his first Premier League start since April with a ferocious effort into the roof of the net, but VAR chalked it off.

The Brazilian may not have contributed directly to any of Chelsea’s two goals, but he put in a phenomenal shift to send a message to manager Xabi Alonso.

Estevao has struggled for playing time this season. Alonso put it down to his physical level, but the talented teenager finally got his chance and took it with both hands.

The ‘special’ 19-year-old was a hub of attacking energy and ambition against United. He was a menace to United’s backline down the right, constantly looking to take on his marker and make something happen.

Estevao had 62 touches and completed 24 of 29 passes. He won five duels, had 12 touches in the opposition box, created three chances, and hit the target with three out of six shots.

The Brazilian’s performance made Alonso look silly, especially as Chelsea have struggled to score goals since Joao Pedro’s unfortunate injury.

Estevao has done enough to be one of the first names on the line-up and must keep his place when Chelsea take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
