The marquee Premier League game of the weekend sees Liverpool lock horns with Arsenal at Anfield.
The Reds advanced to the EFL Cup quarter-finals by beating Chelsea 6-5 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw at Anfield on Wednesday evening. The result made it six wins on the trot in all competitions since the 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League last month.
Brimming with confidence, Andoni Iraola’s side will look to topple the reigning champions Arsenal, who suffered the biggest upset in the EFL Cup history in midweek by getting eliminated at the hands of League Two side Fleetwood Town 4-3 in penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. So, the Gunners will head to Merseyside with a point to prove.
### Liverpool Team News
Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Munoz sustained injuries during Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Brentford earlier this month and have subsequently missed the last two matches. Szoboszlai has aggravated a previous hamstring problem, while Munoz is struggling with a knock. The duo remain doubtful for the visit of Arsenal.
Jeremie Frimpong has been sidelined until late November with a muscle problem, but Florian Wirtz shook off a knock and came on as a second-half substitute against Chelsea in the EFL Cup in midweek.
### Predicted Liverpool lineup vs Arsenal (4-2-3-1)
**Goalkeeper**
Giorgi Mamardashvili turned out to be a hero as he saved a penalty in Liverpool’s 6-5 shootout win over Chelsea in the EFL Cup. However, Alisson Becker will be back in goal on Sunday when Arsenal visit Anfield.
**Defence**
Lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, Liverpool’s defence will pretty much have the same look. Jeremy Jacquet came on as a second-half substitute in midweek but should be back in the first XI and partner skipper Virgil van Dijk in central defence.
Ronald Araujo will move to right-back after being deployed in central defence against Chelsea, while Milos Kerkez is expected to replace Kostas Tsimikas at left-back. Together they will look to keep an impressive Arsenal attack at bay.
**Midfield**
Alexis Mac Allister will be fresh to start after featuring for just over nine minutes against Chelsea in the EFL Cup. The World Cup winner should partner Ryan Gravenberch in the double pivot, with the duo trying to set the pace of the game.
Florian Wirtz is expected to be back in the first XI. The German international will get the license to roam freely and create opportunities in the final third from his preferred No.10 role.
**Attack**
Alexander Isak and Bradley Barcola will be restored in the starting XI after coming off the bench against Chelsea in midweek. Isak will spearhead the Liverpool attack, with Barcola trying to cause problems for the Arsenal defence from the right flank. Cody Gakpo, who scored the equaliser against Chelsea from the spot, should retain his spot on the left.
Rio Ngumoha will be a dangerous player to bring on off the bench against a tiring Arsenal defence.
