Everton rather made a mess of things at the end of the summer transfer window, with Thierno Barry being left as the only recognised striker at the club. But the Toffees are now looking at Nicolo Tresoldi as a potential mid-season signing.
Everton tried to land Folarin Balogun after selling Beto to Fiorentina.
But after expressing concern over the player’s condition, he decided to walk away, leaving Everton high and dry – and cranking up the pressure on Barry in the process.
Barry has scored six goals so far, but has also missed a hatful of chances, further underlining the need for a new recruit in January – and Nicolo Tresoldi appears to be of interest.
What's your thoughts on Thierno Barry at the moment? 10 big chances missed in the PL, but six goals across all competitions. It's fair to say he divides opinion at Everton, but Dewsbury-Hall is a fan…👀

Absolutely not good enough
He isthe worst striker in the Premier league no ball control no good at heading
I agree this has been a trend across Moyes career wherever he has managed
Who is Nicolo Tresoldi?
Nicolo Tresoldi was born in Cagliari, Sardinia on 20 August 2004, making him 22 years old. He has an Italian father and an Argentine mother of Italian descent.
Growing up in Italy, he was interested in both football and tennis, but ended up choosing the former.
Currently, he plays for Belgian side Club Brugge, but he actually came through at Hannover 96, after moving to Germany as a 13-year-old. The reason for this was for his mother’s work.
In January Tresoldi signed his first professional contract with the club, and made his professional debut for the club in the 2. Bundesliga in July 2022 against 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
The striker spent three years with the first-team before then moving on to Club Brugge last year. And his time in Belgium has been quite successful so far.

He’s plundered 32 goals in 70 appearances so far, meaning a ratio of almost a goal every other game. He has also shown creativity, making nine assists.
Tresoldi has represented Germany at youth level, but as he hasn’t yet featured for the nation at senior level, he actually has a choice of who to declare for, between Germany, Italy and Argentina.
Some might have seen Tresoldi make headlines last week when he hit a hat-trick against Inter in the Champions League, helping his side to a dramatic 4-3 victory. According to Goal, Brugge value the player at around £42 million.
Everton interested in Tresoldi, but Toffees not alone
TEAMtalk cite Belgian publication HLN as reporting that Everton are among a host of clubs showing interest in Tresoldi following his exploits for Brugge.
The Toffees are not alone though, with the following expressing interest:
Newcastle United
Leeds United
Chelsea
Borussia Dortmund
Atletico Madrid
Interestingly, it’s claimed that Everton are set to send scouts to watch Tresoldi as Brugge take on Lens tonight in the Champions League.
He is the second German striker to have been linked with the club in recent weeks, with Everton also apparently eyeing Younes Ebnoutalib, who is in great form.
Esteban Lepaul is also on Everton’s radar, as the club look to rectify the situation and hand Barry some much-needed support.
