Liverpool Team News
At the pre-match press conference for Liverpool vs Arsenal, Andoni Iraola was asked about his good form against Arsenal while he was manager of Bournemouth, and whether that holds any importance now that he’s at Liverpool:
“It’s true that we had good results with Bournemouth against them, but this doesn’t mean a lot, honestly. It’s a totally different team, different group of players, different moments so I think we cannot use exactly the same things we used with Bournemouth against Arsenal. I think that we have to use different tools, use our players as good as we can and trust them. At the end it’s going to be a matter of winning the duels, running more than them, winning the aerial duels, winning the set-play mini-games, these things that you have to control against us and all this.”
The Liverpool boss also gave a positive indication regarding the availability of Víctor Munoz and Dominik Szoboszlai: “I think they have a chance. They have a chance. But I don’t know for sure if they will be involved or not. We still have two days, so I think we have a chance, yes,” said Iraola.
Arsenal Team News
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta also spoke to the press ahead of the weekend’s game and was asked about whether Bukayo Saka will be back before the international break: “He needed another scan to see how the amount of fluid that was there is resolving, whether the tendon is touched and how badly it is touched. Afterwards we’ll know more about it,” said the Arsenal boss.
Arteta was also asked about the availability of Declan Rice, Riccardo Calafiori, and Christos Tzolis: “They all trained today, and they will train tomorrow, and if everything is ok, they will be available,” said the Gunners boss.
“We don’t know yet. We’ll have a training session tomorrow, see if he can complete that full session tomorrow and as I said, I will know whether he’s available or not,” said Arteta regarding the fitness of Noni Madueke.
When asked if Madueke was ruled out: “Noni? No,” answered the Gunners boss.

The Last Word: Liverpool vs Arsenal
Liverpool vs Arsenal is a huge game, even this early in the season. Liverpool won this fixture last season, 1-0.
Arsenal need at least a point to go top of the table, after Manchester City’s 1-0 loss against Brighton. Arteta will be without Saka, but looks likely to be able to call on key midfielder Declan Rice. Iraola will be pleased with the improvements his team has shown in recent weeks.
This game could produce goals, but we are anticipating a tight affair like the two league games between the teams last season. Arsenal lost in midweek, but they will be a different proposition at Anfield, as will Liverpool, who started their Carabao Cup tie against Chelsea without several key players.
Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal
