Arsenal take on Liverpool in today’s much-anticipated Premier League clash at Anfield.
The Gunners suffered a surprise Carabao Cup fourth-round exit to Fleetwood Town in midweek and will be keen to make amends with another league win.
Arsenal have not been on the winning side at Anfield since September 2012, and it remains to be seen whether they can end the hoodoo this afternoon.
Ahead of the game, manager Mikel Arteta has made nine changes to the starting XI from the shock League Cup exit at the hands of League Two side Fleetwood.
David Raya returns in goal. Ezri Konsa and Gabriel Magalhaes return to the heart of the defence, while Riccardo Calafiori makes a comeback at left-back after injury.
Jurrien Timber keeps his place at right-back from Tuesday.
The midfield sees an overhaul too. Declan Rice and Bruno Guimaraes get the nod as the central midfielders, with Martin Odegaard in the number 10 position.
Christos Tzolis and Noni Madueke are fit and start on the left and right wing, respectively, against the Reds. The former’s selection is a surprise, having been sidelined with a hamstring injury over the past few weeks.
Elsewhere, Bukayo Saka is still injured, while Max Dowman is suspended for three domestic matches.
Despite his woeful showing at Highbury Stadium, Kai Havertz leads the line. He has surprisingly been given the nod over Viktor Gyokeres in the centre-forward role.
Confirmed Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Liverpool: Raya; Timber, Konsa, Magalhaes, Calafiori; Rice, Guimaraes; Madueke, Odegaard, Tzolis; Havertz.
Meanwhile, Liverpool make seven changes from the midweek Carabao Cup fourth-round victory over Chelsea at Anfield. Alisson Becker starts in goal as expected.
The backline consists of Ronald Araujo, Jeremy Jacquet, Virgil van Dijk and Milos Kerkez.
In central midfield, we are somewhat surprised to see Trey Nyoni get the nod to partner Alexis Mac Allister. He makes his full Premier League debut. Ryan Gravenberch features on the bench.
The attack is as expected for the hosts. Cody Gakpo likely starts on the left wing with Bradley Barcola on the right flank. Florian Wirtz will be the playmaker, while Alexander Isak leads the line.
Confirmed Liverpool line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Arsenal: Alisson; Araujo, Jacquet, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Nyoni, Mac Allister; Barcola, Wirtz, Gakpo; Isak.
