Piers Morgan couldn't help but get involved as he witnessed Arsenal's first win against Liverpool at Anfield since 2012.

Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the game during the visitors' early dominant spell. The German smashed home after an impressive cross from Declan Rice took out the entire Liverpool defence and goalkeeper.

The match saw several controversial incidents, including Alexander Isak being pulled back inside the box by Jurrien Timber, but the referee waved away any penalty appeals.

Morgan, a well-known and outspoken Arsenal supporter, took issue with another high-profile incident in the match. In the second half, Alexis Mac Allister and Noni Madueke went head-to-head, with the former falling to the floor.

Some believed the Arsenal man would see red for the incident, but others didn't feel there was enough of a movement towards Mac Allister's forehead. VAR agreed with the referee that Madueke didn't deserve to be sent off.

Following the incident, Piers was quick to jump on X (formerly Twitter) to post an image of Mac Allister on the floor, with a sarcastic message for the Argentine. He said: "I do hope Mac Allister recovers from his fictitious headbutt. Poor guy."

The British journalist and media personality didn't stop there. He also aimed a dig at Manchester City by posting the Premier League table with the Citizens scored out and the caption: "Arsenal 5pts clear now (cheats deleted)."

During his post-match interview with Viaplay, Madueke was asked about whether he'd asked to swap shirts with Mac Allister at full-time. "No, no, no, no, no. To be honest, I wish I did," the England star replied.

He did briefly touch on the incident itself, accusing Mac Allister of 'baiting' him into something he'd regret. Madueke stated: "He tried to bait me. It's neither a yellow nor red card."

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher agreed with Madueke's assessment. The Sky Sports pundit labelled Mac Allister 'a joke' for his part in the altercation. Carragher fumed:

"I’m delighted he never got sent off there. We have got to be strong on calling people out and saying that this is embarrassing. I can't stand it.

"I think everybody in the country watching football this head-to-head stuff. If someone puts their head back and butts, of course it's a red card, but this stuff about head-to-head and if someone touches, the other one goes down and the player gets sent off."

"That’s a joke from Mac Allister but it’s got to stop. People are trying to gain an advantage because they know they can because red cards are getting given for it," he added.
