Erling, 26, signed a 10-year contract at City in January 2025, with the deal running until 2034 and widely reported to contain no release clause tied to relegation or any other circumstance.
The comments come against the backdrop of an independent commission's guilty verdict on 114 of 115 charges relating to alleged breaches of the Premier League's financial rules between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons, published on September 29.
Manchester City declared their innocence in a statement shortly after the ruling, and the club lodged a comprehensive appeal on October 1, with the sanctions phase of the case yet to begin.
I can't discuss Erling's contracts, says Alfie Haaland in coy response to the elephant in the room
Speaking to Viaplay Football, Alf-Inge was asked whether Erling included a "what-if" clause related to City's charges in his 10-year contract. "No, I can't discuss the players' or Erling's contracts. I don't wish to comment on that," the 53-year-old said.
The independent commission's ruling found that Manchester City had disguised more than £830 million in funding through what the panel described as sham contracts across the nine seasons under scrutiny.
City have maintained their innocence throughout the process and have focused their appeal on both the findings and the handling of the case, with sources suggesting full resolution may not arrive until 2028 or 2029.
Enzo Maresca took charge at the Etihad Stadium in June as the successor to Pep Guardiola, with the Italian having now overseen a run of three defeats in the last six games across all competitions, including Saturday's 1-0 Premier League loss to Brighton and Hove Albion.
The guilty verdict, the appeal and Erling's position at Man City
Erling has scored nine goals in eight Premier League appearances this season, six of which have come from headers, although the Norway striker was kept quiet by Lewis Dunk at the weekend before Alf-Inge's comments on the ongoing situation at the Etihad Stadium.
Erling's goals have continued to drive Manchester City during the recent period, including a brace in the 3-2 Premier League win over Ipswich Town in October as well as the header in the 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa eight days later.
Rival clubs have also responded to the independent commission's findings, with Manchester United, Tottenham and others reported to be preparing civil claims thought to be worth around £800 million in total.
