Viktor Gyokeres joined Arsenal from Sporting CP in July 2025 on a contract running to June 2030. The deal was worth an initial €63.5 million, with a further €10 million in add-ons.
The Swede delivered in his first season.
He scored 21 goals in all competitions, including 14 in the Premier League, as Arsenal won the league title and reached the Champions League final. They lost that final to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.
This season has been different. Kai Havertz has been ahead of him in Mikel Arteta’s plans, and Gyokeres began the Premier League campaign on the bench for seven matches.

He made his first league start of the season against Everton on 24 October. He played 68 minutes in the 2-0 win and set up Ezri Konsa’s opening goal.
Three days later, Gyokeres scored his first goal of the season in the Carabao Cup at Fleetwood Town. Arsenal lost the tie 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
On Sunday, he came on in the 84th minute for Havertz in the 1-0 win at Liverpool.
Now, according to AFCAMDEN, Gyokeres is learning Arabic. The report comes as speculation grows over his future.
TEAMtalk reported in mid-October that Gyokeres is ready to push for a January exit. It said his lack of starts is one source of frustration, along with Arsenal’s continued interest in Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.
Arteta has defended his striker. Before the Fleetwood tie, he said Gyokeres won his position against both Everton centre-backs, but the ball did not reach him.

Saudi Arabia has featured in earlier reports. TalkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs said Gyokeres was not entirely unsellable in the summer and was offered to Saudi clubs.
There are also reports that Arsenal discussed a January swap deal with Al-Ahli, involving England striker Ivan Toney.
Galatasaray have also been linked. Turkish media reported in September that the Turkish club are considering a winter move.
Gyokeres continues to score for Sweden. In October, he became the first player to score in seven consecutive Nations League matches, and he has 25 goals in 41 appearances for his country.
He has learned a language quickly before. Vogue Scandinavia reported that he mastered Portuguese within a year during his time in Lisbon.
