The clash between Liverpool and Arsenal was tipped to be a heavyweight one on Sunday, 1 November, but it ended up being shrouded in controversy instead.

Kai Havertz's goal was the only difference, and the majority of fans can safely say that the Reds should have been awarded a penalty for a pull on Alexander Isak's shirt.

Madley's job certainly wasn't easy in such a hostile environment, but his continuous mistakes in the middle only made it worse during the 90 minutes.

Arsenal fans are still certain that Nyoni should have been sent off in the first minute, and that would have made the game much easier for them.

Trey Nyoni deserved a caution at 'very minimum'

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Hackett can understand the outrage but would have been content with a simple caution for the 19-year-old midfielder.

"For me, if you like, the least amount of punishment on that is a yellow card. I think that challenge is reckless.

"On another day... And because it is early, I think that's why he's fortunate not to get a red. He's raked his studs down the Achilles of his opponent.

"However you look at that, that has to receive a sanction. And so for me, I'll give him slight benefit of the doubt, slight mistiming, whatever you want.

"But he has to come out of that with a yellow card at the very minimum."

He earned his start against the Gunners, but it was clearly too much for him, being hooked by Andoni Iraola just before the hour mark.

His passing was immaculate, with a 96 per cent completion rate, with 19 of them being line-breaking, while also making four recoveries and one interception [FotMob].

At 19 years of age, he must simply take this game as a lesson, rather than something to knock his confidence.
