Despite having made seven new signings during the last summer transfer window, FC Barcelona are once again working to make even more signings in the upcoming winter transfer window. Hansi Flick himself confirmed this as he faces a shortage of defenders due to injuries and physical problems.
Recent reports suggest that the Catalans would be looking to sign a center-back in the upcoming transfer window, while other reports have claimed that in addition to a center-back, they might also look to sign a fullback.
For now, it remains to be seen which players, if any, they will sign to address these positions. However, there is one fullback that has remained highly attractive to Barcelona in recent months, i.e., the Spanish right-back Pedro Porro.
The Spaniard remains the favorite fullback candidate for both Hansi Flick and Deco, while the player himself wants to return to Spain. [He has been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid in the past](https://barcanewsnetwork.com/barcelona-face-real-madrid-competition-for-pedro-porro-as-tottenham-name-their-price/), but with the Merengues already having several options for the right-back position, the Blaugrana club seems to be his safest way back to his home country.
However, according to [SPORT](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/condiciones-barca-fichar-pedro-porro-136015815), the Blaugranes have let the player’s entourage know that his signing would be possible only if his current club, Tottenham Hotspur, lowered its demands. The London club is currently valuing their star defender at €70 million, and is not generally known for letting their important players leave easily.
For their part, Barcelona believe this valuation is not in line with the reality of the market, and thus have asked Pedro Porro to play his part to get his club’s asking price reduced. Furthermore, the Catalans would be prioritizing the signing of a center-back in January, and would make a move for a fullback only if their budget allows. Meanwhile, they also have an alternative in mind, another Spanish fullback, Ivan Fresneda.
