Renato Gonçalves Renato Goncalves is the deputy manager of Barca Blaugranes and has been writing for the site since all the way back in 2014. He’s a massive sports fan and has been crazy about Barcelona ever since Rivaldo scored that bicycle kick in 2001.
The next Barcelona match is upon us! The Blaugrana welcome Aston Villa to Camp Nou for a huge Champions League game, and Hansi Flick has called up the following 23 players for Tuesday’s clash:
Goalkeepers: Joan Garcia, Wojciech Szczesny, Dominik Livakovic
Defenders: João Cancelo, Alejandro Balde, Pau Cubarsí, Gerard Martín, Álex Campos, Guillem Víctor
Midfielders: Brian Fariñas, Gavi, Fermín López, Pedri, Rodri, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Bernal, Orian Goren
Forwards: Gabriel Jesus, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Karim Adeyemi, Anthony Gordon, Hamza Abdelkarim
Barça continue to deal with a serious injury crisis and none of the currently injured players are back for this one, so Xavi Espart (ankle), Dani Olmo (groin), Jules Kounde (ankle), Eric Garcia (quad) and Roony Bardghji (knee) are all ruled out due to injury. Andreas Christensen (quad) is back in training but is still awaiting his medical clearance, so he won’t be able to return tonight.
Predicted starting XI (4-3-3):
Joan; Fariñas, Cubarsí, Martín, Cancelo; Fermín, Rodri, Pedri; Yamal, Raphinha, Gordon
The match kicks off at 9pm CET/WAT (Barcelona & Nigeria), 8pm GMT (UK), 3pm ET, 12pm PT (USA), 1.30am IST (India, Wednesday), and you can join us to follow and comment all the action.
