Chelsea are keeping close tabs on Newcastle United midfielder Lewis Miley, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Blues insider said that the 20-year-old is one of four young English players that Xabi Alonso’s side are monitoring, along with Everton’s Harrison Armstrong, Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly and Fulham’s Josh King:
“Lewis Miley from Newcastle, another England Under-21 international, plays in midfield, 6ft 2in tall… At the moment, they are players that Chelsea are scouting this season and running regular reports on, weekly reports.”
Miley only signed a new six-year contract with the Magpies back in May, so it is unlikely that his sale will be sanctioned by the club.
It’s not the first time Chelsea have been linked
Just prior to the midfielder putting pen to paper on his contract extension, Miley was reported to have attracted the notice of the Blues, along with Manchester United, Arsenal, Brighton, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The England youth international is clearly very highly rated by other teams, but Newcastle will be keen to keep hold of one of their most talented young players.

Newcastle can’t repeat the mistake they made with Anderson
The Magpies were forced to offload Elliot Anderson, another promising young midfielder, in 2024 due to concerns that the club could breach PSR.
Fans will be aware of how that decision came back to haunt the club. Just two years after he joined Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £35m, he was sold to Manchester City for £121m.
It remains to be seen whether Miley can reach the levels that Anderson has attained, but there will be extra determination to retain his services regardless.
