Chelsea and Manchester City Lead Race for Club Brugge Striker: Reports

Chelsea and Manchester City are set to battle it out for Nicolo Tresoldi after Belgian champions Club Brugge set a €50m asking price for their star striker. Both Premier League teams have approached Brugge for details on the 22-year-old, ahead of teams like Juventus and AC Milan, per reports.

The Italian-born forward has been on the radar of several English teams, including Chelsea, and the Germany U21 international has attracted plenty of scouting attention recently. However, the €50m is seen as a starting point by Brugge, and a price war may see the Italian teams priced out of the market.

He has been in great form following a hat-trick in the 4-3 Champions League victory over Inter on October 13. He opened the scoring with a penalty on the half-hour mark and scored again in the 63rd and 74th minutes to give the visitors a commanding lead at San Siro. Romeo Vermant added a fourth late on, before Ange-Yoan Bonny’s stoppage-time goal made it 4-3.

Since then, the Cagliari-born striker has continued his fine form. He scored a hat-trick in a 3-2 win over Sint-Truiden on October 25. His goal against Zulte Waregem also took his tally to 13 goals in 15 games this season. The 22-year-old joined from Hannover 96 for around €7m in 2025 and has already scored 36 goals in 73 games for Brugge.

It makes sense that Chelsea are interested in Tresoldi after relying so much on Joao Pedro this season. The Brazilian has scored five goals and provided three assists in just six Premier League appearances. However, he has suffered a thigh injury, which means he will be sidelined for a few weeks. Without him, the Blues have seriously struggled in attack.

But any deal seems unlikely to happen until the summer. Brugge do not have any plans to sell in the middle of the season, and Tresoldi has a contract until June 2029, so Brugge are in a strong position.

Xabi Alonso Looks To Emmanuel Emegha And Morgan Rogers

Xabi Alonso has had to improvise in attack after Joao Pedro suffered a thigh injury in training ahead of the 2-0 home defeat by Tottenham. The Chelsea boss did not want to predict when the Brazilian would return but confirmed he will miss the next few games.

Morgan Rogers led the line against Spurs, with Goevany Quenda and Cole Palmer supporting him, but the Blues failed to score. Alonso has now called on summer signing Emmanuel Emegha, but no goals yet from the Dutch striker.

They face Sunderland on Sunday before the November international break. Joao Pedro could return against Leeds United on November 21, but the injury has shown how thin they are at centre-forward. This is why they continue to monitor players like Tresoldi.
