FC Barcelona returned to winning ways in the UEFA Champions League as they beat the in-form Premier League side Aston Villa with a 3-0 win. With this win, the Catalans have moved second on the UCL table and it was also the first time in months that they were able to keep a clean sheet in the European competition.
However, it was a sad day for football in general, as the Tenerife player Jesus de Miguel passed away after a collision with the Andorra goalkeeper in a second division game.
Barcelona players were quite affected by this tragic incident, and as [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20261104/1004247000/raphinha-quiero-enviar-fuerza-familia-jesus-miguel.html) has reported, the captain Raphinha expressed his grief and condolences as he spoke to the media after the match:
**“Today is not a good day to talk about football. I dedicate the victory to the fans, but I want to send my heartfelt support to the family of Jesús de Miguel on behalf of the club. May he rest in peace.”**
The Brazilian forward also revealed how the tragic accident impacted his team:
**“It could have happened to anyone. It is very difficult. It could happen to us too. When we saw what had happened, we were left in shock.”**
Despite the shock of this news, [Raphinha was able to score a brace in this match](https://barcanewsnetwork.com/raphinha-9-0-joan-garcia-8-5-fc-barcelona-3-0-aston-villa-player-ratings/). His celebrations after the goals, while exuding joy, were still somewhat subdued, which is understandable keeping in view the nature of the events.
For now, reports claim that La Liga is contemplating postponing the next matchday’s fixtures because of de Miguel’s death. It remains to be seen what decision will be taken in this regard, but if the schedule remains unchanged, they will be facing Atletico Madrid in a crucial league game at the Metropolitano on Sunday, and players like Raphinha will once again have to be at their best to help Barcelona get a win in that game.
