**One Arsenal star is reportedly heading towards the exit door. Liverpool should make their move ASAP - he’d start for them.**
Liverpool need to bolster their midfield - that's clear for all to see. They've built a group entirely out of progressive, attacking midfielders who want to play the no.8 role and paid little attention to those who can actually control the middle of the pitch.

We do expect that to change in 2027. Liverpool have been linked with some more control-focused midfielders. Some win the ball back, some maintain possession.
And that's what's necessary. The Reds have very little versatility in the middle - they're essentially setup to play one style of game and if that doesn't work, it's not easily changed.
Which should turn them towards an Arsenal star who looks near-certain to leave North London sometime soon. At least, turn them _back_ towards that star.
Martin Zubimendi to Liverpool
-----------------------------
Liverpool tried to sign Martin Zubimendi back in 2024 but he ultimately decided to stay put with Real Sociedad. By the time he was ready to move in 2025, the Reds have settled on a different midfield after winning the Premier League title and didn't want to invest in new players.
That opened the door for Arsenal to swoop in and they did exactly that. Zubimendi signed for them that summer and went on to win the Premier League title last season as a starting player.
However, they've quickly decided to move on from him. We assume that's because the Zubimendi and Declan Rice partnership was viewed as a little too defensive and a little immobile through the pitch.
Bruno Guimaraes joined from Newcastle United and now they're midfield is more attacking. Though, [**we think they've made a mistake there**](https://www.anfieldwatch.co.uk/liverpool-fc/news/arsenal-blunder-liverpool-can-steal-gunners-star-in-premier-league-bombshell/).
Zubimendi performs incredibly well on our Value Adder model but he went under the radar a bit. We have him as the second most valuable defensive midfielder in the Premier League, only for him to receive zero hype about it because no.1 was Rice.
That has [TeamTalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/arsenal/zubimendi-ready-to-quit-barcelona-real-madrid-bayern-munich-atletico-madrid) reporting that Zubimendi is read to leave already as he's not getting first-team football when he really should be. And we think that Liverpool is where he should get it.
If Arsenal genuinely don't believe Zubimendi is good enough, Liverpool should snap him up to prove them wrong. After all, there's no reason not to sell a sub-par player to Anfield, is there?
We just don't believe he's actually sub-par. He's actually what Liverpool need in the middle of the pitch and if a deal is available, we're convinced they should go for it.
