Liverpool Named Among 7 Clubs Vying To Sign Arsenal Star Who Is ‘Ready To Leave’ The Emirates

Liverpool have been “informed” that Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi will be available during the January transfer window, according to reports.

TEAMtalk claim that the Reds, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have all been made aware that the Spanish international could be on the market.

Zubimendi is said to be “ready to leave” the Premier League champions, having fallen behind Bruno Guimaraes and Myles Lewis-Skelly in the pecking order.

Despite the Gunners spending close to £60m to bring him to the Emirates from Real Sociedad last year, he hasn’t started a league match so far during his second season with the club.

Will Liverpool revive their interest in the player?

Zubimendi was heavily linked with a switch to Anfield during the summer of 2024, but he opted to turn down a move at the time.

There is now a chance to reignite the club’s pursuit of the 27-year-old, but a lot has changed over the last two years, including changes both in the recruitment department and in the dugout. At the moment, the Reds are believed to be prioritising other names to reinforce the middle of the park.

Who is being targeted instead of Zubimendi?

Monaco’s Lamine Camara, Roma’s Manu Kone and Bournemouth’s Alex Scott are said to be the primary targets for sporting director Julian Ward heading into the January transfer window.

All three midfielders are also reportedly on Chelsea’s radar, but it looks like Xabi Alonso’s side are currently prioritising a move for Scott, despite having a deal collapse on Deadline Day for Camara in September.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are potentially leaning towards recruiting Camara. The Senegalese international’s profile would fit Andoni Iraola’s style of play more than Zubimendi’s.
