Bart Verbruggen sidestepped questions about LaLiga links as he faced Spanish media.

And he said he is relishing the play-making role Fabian Hurzeler asks him to play at Albion.

The Seagulls No.1 spoke at the Coliseum in Getafe on the eve of Conference League action.

He was reminded by a Spanish reporter that he has been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid at times ever since impressing for Holland at Euro 2024.

Verbruggen, who has yet to concede a goal in four Conference League games, replied: “I don't know what will happen in the future. No one knows.

“All I know is that, at the moment, I'm very happy in Brighton.

“We have a great team. We have a good squad.

“We play some very good football and I really look forward to playing here on a Spanish pitch tomorrow. That I can tell you.

“What happens in the future, no one knows, but I'm really enjoying my time in Brighton and I look forward to the game and to the rest of the season, for sure.”

Verbruggen was also asked about his ever more important role with ball at his feet in Fabian Hurzeler’s gameplan.

He said: “It's something I actually take joy from.

“I enjoy having the ball at my feet.

"As a kid growing up, you play on the small pitches in your neighbourhood. I wasn't always in goal.

“I always like to play with my feet and I think it's a quality of mine and it's just another way to help the team and, at the end of the day, that is the most important.

“Obviously, what the manager asks me to do, I will do it.

“But I'm happy that he asked me to play with my feet as well!”
