La Liga giants Barcelona are hopeful of welcoming two members of the club’s defensive ranks back into the fold for their next outing.

This comes amid confirmation that both Andreas Christensen and Eric García took part in group training at the Ciutat Esportiva on Friday morning.

Defenders Christensen and Eric have played an unwanted role in the defensive injury crisis in Hansi Flick’s squad over recent weeks, joining Jules Koundé and Xavi Espart on the sidelines.

Both have been condemned to the treatment table in Catalunya’s capital owing to muscular complaints.

As alluded to above, though, on Friday, Christensen and Eric took significant steps forward in their respective efforts to return to the pitch. As per a report from journalist Nil Sola:

‘Eric García and Christensen complete part of training two days before the match against Atlético. The plan is for them to complete the final session tomorrow and be included in Sunday’s squad.’

🔴🔵 ÈRIC GARCIA i CHRISTENSEN completen part de l’entrenament a dos dies del partit contra l’Atlético.

La previsió és que demà completin l’última sessió i entrin a la convocatòria de diumenge.

Kounde, Espart i Olmo descartats. Campos, Guillem Víctor i Hamza també entrenen.
