There had been concerns over Alexander Isak's fitness ahead of the Carabao Cup final
Alexander Isak has been involved in media duties ahead of the Carabao Cup final - suggesting that the Newcastle frontman will feature at Wembley.
The Magpies are firm underdogs when they take on Liverpool and there were fears that the club would be without Isak, their leading light. The forward has enjoyed the best season of his career to date, but was forced off in the latter stages of the defeat on Sunday.
Immediately attention turned to the Carabao Cup showdown in just over a week, but despite initial concerns all the signs point towards Isak featuring for Newcastle in the season's first final. On Wednesday afternoon, the striker filmed segments at the media day ahead of the television coverage, as well as having his photograph taken, indicating he is planned to take part.
Isak was taken off in the 86th minute but Eddie Howe offered an encouraging update after the FA Cup defeat to Brighton, claiming the Swede's withdrawal was "just general tiredness" and "fingers crossed he is okay".

Isak scored as Newcastle saw off Arsenal in the semi-final across two-legs, eventually winning 4-0. Earlier this term the Swede also scored against Liverpool in a 3-3 and, without him, the Magpies went down 2-0 at Anfield last week.
Howe may be without some of his other leading lights however. Anthony Gordon's red card at the weekend means he'll now be suspended for the Wembley showdown whilst Lewis Hall will miss out through injury. It has been confirmed that the defender has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after it was deemed he needed surgery on an injury sustained during the defeat at Liverpool.
Newcastle meanwhile have decided not to appeal the red card picked up by Gordon. The winger was shown a straight red card for raising his hands to the face of Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke and now miss three matches.

Howe led Newcastle to the Carabao Cup final two years ago, but they were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United. The club's wait for a trophy, which spans more than half a century, is well publicised.
Liverpool meanwhile are eyeing what could be the first of three trophies this season. Arne Slot could land a treble in his first season in charge with the Carabao Cup his first opportunity for silverware. The Reds are also clear in the Premier League and remain in the hunt of the Champions League.
