**West Ham** defender Nayef Aguerd has always been a classy operator.
Now on loan at Real Sociedad, the Moroccan appears to have caught the eye of Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim. The Portugeezer, who currently occupies the Old Trafford hot seat, was supposedly set to be replaced yesterday by former Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui so who knows why he is picking players.
However, shock horror… the news story has turned out to be a load of old poppycock, and it now seems that Amorim is remaining Man Utd boss for the time being. As a result, the [Red Devils are believed to have targeted](https://www.claretandhugh.info/kerchinnng-2-clubs-chase-irons-discard-hammers-in-the-money/) West Ham centre-back Aguerd, which is slightly awkward because apparently, we wanted him back.
Hammers boss Graham Potter had alerted West Ham chiefs to his desire to assess Aguerd in pre-season, with the potential of a mouth-watering defensive line-up.
With the Hammers currently using Aaron Cresswell on the left side of a back three, it is believed Potter would like to try a Todibo, Kilman, and Aguerd combination. That was, of course, before pesky Manchester United started sniffing around with their £30m bid.
It may well be that this latest [transfer](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfer-news/) report is about as accurate as the Lopetegui rumours. But if the interest from Old Trafford does turn out to be serious, then I’m quite sure the Hammers can make Man Utd pay double for a player who has wowed La Liga this season.
