Leslie Scanlon (BJ Hons, Carleton University, 1986) worked in corporate communications in Japan after graduating from university. She joined External Affairs and International Trade Canada in 1990. In Canada, she has served in regional offices on the East and West coasts and has been a director general in several Global Affairs Canada bureaus, including the Consular Operations Bureau and Mission Operations Bureau. She served abroad in Japan (1992 to 1996) and France (2007 to 2011) before serving as ambassador to Poland (2018 to 2022). Most recently, she was high commissioner in Pakistan (2022 to 2025).
