Arne Slot has just done something tonight vs PSG that Jurgen Klopp never did for Liverpool

Liverpool face PSG tonight in a huge UEFA Champions League tie, with the Reds doing well to keep their hat in the ring.

The French giants have dominated the Premier League leaders after a frantic first-half that saw PSG have a goal ruled out for offside before Ibrahima Konate escaped a red card and conceding a penalty thanks to VAR.

With PSG in sensational form heading into today’s game at the Parc des Princes, Arne Slot has gone with what many Liverpool fans view as his best starting XI, yet even with the quality, the Anfield side have been second-best for the majority of the match.

Yet in Slot naming today’s starting XI, the Dutch coach has now achieved something that former manager Jurgen Klopp never managed to do during his time at Liverpool on the touchline.

Arne Slot names the same Liverpool XI in more games than Jurgen Klopp

With Slot fielding tonight’s starting XI in Paris, the former Feyenoord head coach named the same line-up for the sixth time in his Liverpool career, a feat that Klopp never managed despite taking charge of close to 500 games for the Reds.

The closest the German manager came to naming the same XI was five times, with the team featuring the likes of James Milner, Naby Keita and Georginio Wijnaldum in midfield and Joe Gomez in defence, along with the legendary attacking three featuring Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Indeed, Klopp was never one to settle on a starting XI, with the former Borussia Dortmund manager often tweaking his Liverpool line-ups depending on the game at hand and the competition the Reds were competing in.

Yet for Slot, this approach goes out the window, with the new Liverpool boss going for the best and most logical starting XI for every game, even if it means playing some key players in matches where a rest would be more warranted.

Consistency has been key to Arne Slot’s success at Liverpool

Liverpool have been blessed this season with few injuries to key players when compared to their Premier League rivals, and this feat has led to Slot building consistency with the squad which in turn has led to some big results.

A 13-point lead at the top of the Premier League is no fluke from Liverpool, who under Slot have deserved their incredible rise to first place in the English top-flight with a squad that has remained consistently fit all season.

And Slot going one better than Klopp in naming the same starting XI already is a feat that shouldn’t surprised many Liverpool fans, with today’s side against PSG likely to feature again later on in the season.
