Ally McCoist joked that it was "almost criminal" that Kvara Kvaratskhelia's stunning strike against [Liverpool](https://www.liverpool.com/) had to be disallowed for offside.
The Georgia international thought he had given PSG the lead in the first half when he curled a left-footed strike into the far corner of Alisson's net, but the home team's celebrations were cut short when the semi-automated offside technology deemed Kvaratskhelia to have been marginally offside in the build-up.
“What a break that is \[for Liverpool\]," McCoist said. "We knew it was tight. It is almost criminal to disallow that, it was such a good finish. But if it's offside, it's offside.”
Liverpool also got the rub of the green a few minutes later when Ibrahima Konate escaped a VAR check for a possible red card after appearing to shove Bradley Barcola in the back when he was the last man.
Rio Ferdinand, who was on co-commentary duty for TNT Sports, said: “That is a foul. The push is in the back, so it's a foul. If that's not a red card I'll be amazed.”
The incident was looked at by the video assistant referee for a lengthy amount of time before the on-field referee signaled for the game to continue.
“It goes in the filing cabinet of 'I've seen them given'," former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock said on BBC Radio 5 Live. "I would feel annoyed if I was a PSG player.”
