Arne Slot has named his starting XI to take on PSG in the first-leg Round of 16 clash this evening.
Both clubs arrive at this encounter enjoying exceptional domestic campaigns. PSG sit 13 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 following their impressive 4-1 victory over Lille at the weekend.
Their recent form has been nothing short of dominant—ten consecutive victories across all competitions, including a 7-0 thrashing of Stade Briochin in the French Cup and a 10-0 aggregate dismantling of Brest in the Champions League play-off round.
Liverpool, meanwhile, had a rare weekend off following their shock FA Cup exit but remain 13 points clear in the Premier League.
The Reds have maintained strong form themselves, going unbeaten in their last five matches with clean sheets in consecutive victories against Manchester City and Newcastle United.
This resilience has become a hallmark of Arne Slot’s side, particularly on their travels, as they remain the only Premier League team yet to suffer an away league defeat this season.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Luis Enrique does not believe that the tie will be decided tonight:
“I’m not certain. The way both teams play, I don’t believe that a poor result in the first leg will dictate the outcome of the second leg. It’s possible for us to lose the first match and win away, and they could just as easily do the same.”
“I consider this one of the most exciting matches to watch in Europe right now,” he said.
With that in mind, Liverpool’s starting XI is:
Alisson, Robertson, Van Dijk, Konate, Alexander-Arnold, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Jota, Diaz, Salah.
Subs: Jaros, Kelleher, Endo, Nunez, Chiesa, Jones, Elliott, Tsimikas, McConnel, Quansah, Nyoni.
