Fans have labelled Liverpool ‘lucky’ after they survived going a goal down and man down against PSG.

The Reds travelled to Paris for the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash against the French champions, and very quickly found themselves counting their lucky stars.

A flurry of rampaging attacks from the hosts saw Alisson forced into action before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia thought he had put PSG ahead with a curling effort. However, he was ruled marginally offside by VAR.

Just minutes later, Ibrahima Konate was let off what appeared to be a certain red card as he barged Bradley Barcola over on the edge of the box.

Referee Davide Massa opted not to give a foul for the incident before VAR decided not to send the official to the monitor as they checked a red card offence, with Konate the last Reds defender back.

Fans took to social media to brand Liverpool as “lucky” and “jammy”. Another slammed: “PSG have been robbed. No red card for Konate!” While a fourth raged: “Blatant red card for Konate what is VAR doing? It’s so obvious.”

Barcola was through on goal as he was about to latch onto the end of a bouncing ball in the area. But the 22-year-old was wiped off his feet as his compatriot smashed recklessly through the back of him.

Liverpool somehow entered the break without conceding as later heroics from Alisson denied Ousmane Dembele and Kvaratskhelia, with PSG’s front line ripping through the Reds at will and unlucky not to be two or three goals ahead at the break.
