Tottenham Hotspur have scouted both Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and FC Porto’s Samu Aghehowa this season
Tottenham Hotspur find themselves reeling in the bottom half of the Premier League, sitting 13th in the table, 14 points off the top four.
One of the primary reasons for their underwhelming form this season has been the injury crisis that the Lilywhites have faced. As a result, Ange Postecoglou’s position at the club remains under heavy scrutiny. Regardless of the Australian’s fate, the North London club need to improve their squad’s quality and depth if they wish to avoid a repeat of the ongoing campaign.
With the club planning to offload experienced forwards Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Timo Werner in the summer transfer window, Spurs would require adequate replacements in the squad before the 2025/26 campaign begins.
Tottenham have been linked with several strikers over the last few months. Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and FC Porto’s Samu Aghehowa have been on the club’s radar—monitored and scouted by the Hotspur Way chiefs.

Reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham would prefer to see Spurs sign Liam Delap over Samu Aghehowa in the summer.
“If you asked me which striker I’d like Tottenham to sign, it would be Delap,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“I think he is more suited to what Tottenham want to do than Omorodion (now Aghehowa). He is proven in the Premier League already, and he is someone I would like the club to go after.
“He looks as though he could be a perfect fit and he is someone Spurs should be going after, especially if Ipswich Town are to get relegated from the Premier League.”
Delap and Aghehowa—both young strikers—have performed very well for their respective clubs this season. For Ipswich, Delap has shouldered the burden of scoring goals. He has netted 10 goals in 26 Premier League appearances in what has been a sorry return to the top flight for the Tractor Boys.
The English striker has been leading the charge for Ipswich’s objective for survival from the front, but he has not found much support from his fellow forwards. Regardless of whether Ipswich stay in the top flight or not, they would seriously consider offers of £40million for Delap.

As for Aghehowa, he has been a revelation in the Portuguese league since joining FC Porto from Atletico Madrid last summer. The Spanish youth international has become one of the sought-after young attacking talents across Europe, following his rich goalscoring exploits for Porto. He has scored 20 goals in 32 games thus far.
While Porto would loathe to lose him after just one season, Aghehowa’s value has now gone up to €50million. So, any club wanting to sign the young striker would have to meet that price tag.

If it comes down to between Delap and Aghehowa, Spurs would be wise to invest in the former. Both the striker fit perfectly into Ange Postecoglou’s playing style with their high physicality complemented by poaching instincts that are repeatedly a nightmare to the defenders, but given Delap’s experience of playing in the Premier League, splashing almost a similar amount of money on a proven talent over an inexperienced one makes complete sense.
