Gareth Taylor says City’s busy schedule across the rest of March presents an opportunity to respond quickly to our late heartbreak at West Ham.
After Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s strike 10 minutes from time gave us the lead at the Hammers, the hosts snatched a point through Manuela Pavi’s goal in second-half injury-time.
Our meeting with Rehanne Skinner’s side represented our second match in three days after our Spurs success and was also our second of eight fixtures this month.
The point means we currently sit fourth in the Barclays Women’s Super League table, one position outside the Champions League places.
But Taylor believes our FA Cup quarter-final clash with Aston Villa on Sunday hands us the chance to right the wrongs from our disappointing draw in London.
“We need to review this as we always do,” he explained.
“Fortunately we have another game to move onto really quickly and try to iron out some of the issues we were having in the first half.
“Yeah [we’re] disappointed. I think we had some issues in the first half, really struggling to find any kind of rhythm and trying to play through the middle of the pitch.
“It was really difficult with their pressure they were putting on us and we had difficulties with the pitch as well. We adjusted some things at half-time and felt better in the second period.
“We looked better with Viv on the pitch, Mary out wide and being able to bring Bunny into it as well. We would’ve liked to have done it a bit longer but we have to manage their load and with games coming up.”
