A man in Thailand got a shock when he unwrapped an ice cream bar he had bought, only to find a snake that has been frozen whole inside the treat.
Instead of throwing a hissy fit, he coolly uploaded photos of the ice cream – with the reptile still embedded – on Facebook on March 4 and the post quickly went viral.
As at March 5 evening, the post has 8,400 reactions, 2,400 comments and 9,100 shares.
The head of the black-and-yellow snake can be clearly seen in the photos.
In the caption, the man noted that he had bought the black bean ice cream from a cart.
Some commenters under the original post poked fun at the incident, with one asking if the snake will be revived under the warm weather, and another saying it was “protein boosting”.
Other netizens expressed horror at the unexpected find.
Commenters also speculated on the snake’s species. Several people guessed it may have been a golden tree snake (_Chrysopelea ornata_).
According to the Thai National Parks website, the golden tree snake is mildly venomous and is found in many countries, including India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
