49ers DB takes weird shot at JSN after reported DK trade request

There is no shortage of reaction to DK Metcalf reportedly requesting a trade from the Seattle Seahawks. Even from a division rival.

And this rival wasn’t exactly nice about it, especially to a different Seahawks wide receiver.

Why did DK request trade from Seahawks? Bump’s take

San Francisco 49ers safety Deommodore Lenoir took to social media shortly after NFL insiders broke the news about Metcalf. At first, his post on X was fairly innocuous.

“Bro you can’t leave Seattle you the only one that made that game fun,” Lenoir wrote while reposting a Bleacher Report graphic about Metcalf’s reported trade request.

He didn’t stop there.

Lenoir also went live on an Instagram and had some fun at the expense of his team’s chief division rival, and in particular Pro Bowl receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, aka JSN.

“Y’all cannot let DK let leave. Y’all can’t do that. Like, who… how am I gonna have fun out there?” Lenoir said in the video. “Njigba, he be crying all day. He cry. That’s all he do is cry. ‘Ref, he holding. He holding, ref. Oh no, don’t hurt me.’ Crybaby. Bro, I’m not worried about JSN. He know that.”

Well, those are some pretty pointed comments from the former Oregon standout. And an interesting choice for Lenoir to take a shot at a player who just topped 1,000 receiving yards and made the Pro Bowl in his second NFL season.

In fact, JSN had 10 catches for 110 yards in a Seahawks win at San Francisco in November. Lenoir, meanwhile, just finished his fourth season and has no Pro Bowl nods to speak of. And it just so happens to be that Lenoir (he’s No. 2 for the 49ers in the video below) was who JSN made one of his best career catches against.

I mean, you’re not giving the guy credit after having a front-row seat for that?

To further emphasize why this was a weird dig by Lenoir, the Niners went 6-11 while the Seahawks came just short of the playoffs in 2024 with a 10-7 record under first-year head coach Mike Macdonald. The 49ers more or less crumbled after that aforementioned November loss to Seattle, too, as it was the first game in a 1-7 finish to the season.

Maybe San Francisco, which just dealt star receiver Deebo Samuel, could use a player like Metcalf to get its record moving in the right direction? Actually, Lenoir seems on board with that idea.

“Back to DK, we can’t let you leave, unless you want to be a Niner,” Lenoir continued. “… Then again, I like going against you, because you’re the only receiver that’s going to be out really on that time – you really, you’re gonna come try to hit somebody in the face. Then I gotta show you I ain’t no buster, hit you back, then we just going at it.”

As comments from viewers flashed on the screen, Lenoir responded that he wasn’t actually trying to recruit Metcalf.

“It low-key had me mad when I got that text this morning, telling me he about to leave Seattle,” he said. “It got me hot.”
