Manchester United are interested in signing the Moroccan central defender Nayef Aguerd at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old has been exceptional for Real Sociedad at the end of this season and he is currently on loan at the club from West Ham United. According to Fichajes, Manchester United want to get the deal done for him in the summer, and it remains to be seen whether they negotiate a deal with the Hammers.
It is no secret that Manchester United need to bring in a quality central defender and the Moroccan could be the ideal acquisition. He has proven his quality in La Liga this season and he knows the Premier League well. He could settle in quickly and make an instant impact at Manchester United next season. The Red Devils have been quite vulnerable defensively, and they need to tighten up at the back.
They have brought in players like Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt at the start of the season, but they have not been organised at the back. Signing another quality central defender would be ideal, especially with Harry Maguire in his twilight years.
Man United move could tempt Aguerd
The Moroccan defender could be attracted to the idea of joining Manchester United. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world and the opportunity to play for them can be hard to turn down. West Ham could be open to selling the player for the right price. He is not a key player for them, and the 28-year-old is not a part of their plans going forward.
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. If he continues to perform at this level, it would not be a surprise if Real Sociedad try to sign him permanently as well. The move could then come down to the player and what he decides.
Manchester United need to improve their squad in the summer, and they need to plug the gaps in their defence. Aguerd will certainly help them tighten up at the back.
