Anouk Denton was first over to celebrate with West Ham United women’s team hero Manuela Paví following the winger’s last-minute equaliser against Manchester City on Wednesday evening.
The defender, playing as a right-wing back at Chigwell Construction Stadium, embraced with the Colombia international as the rest of the ground celebrated another monumental result in east London.
The England U23 international caused havoc for the Manchester City defence in the first half, joining the attackers in hounding down the opposition backline with their press, and played a part in the all-important leveller.
“It was so great to get the late goal,” said Denton. “I was in the box and I wanted Paví to pass to me and then when she shot, I was so happy!
“[The celebrations were] so great. I feel like we were on top in the game and we had so many chances, more than we would usually have against a team like City. So I felt like we deserved a point out of it, definitely.
