Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has requested a trade, according to multiple reports.
The news of the trade request, which Seattle will reportedly explore, comes days before the start of free agency and new league year next week.
He has one year left on his current contract and carries a cap hit of $31.8 million, according to OverTheCap.
The wide receiver has been with Seattle for the past six seasons after joining the franchise as a second-round pick (No. 64 overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft.
DK’s numbers against the Cardinals
Metcalf is no stranger to the Arizona Cardinals, having played against Arizona 11 times in his career. He caught 31 balls on 64 targets for 353 yards and two touchdowns during that span.
But it’s Metcalf’s chase down of safety Budda Baker in 2020 that Cardinals fans will likely remember most from Metcalf’s time with Seattle.

“I was running (and) next thing you know, I look up and I see this big 14 coming after me,” Baker told reporters postgame.
DK Metcalf not the only Seattle WR in the news
While it’s still up in the air that Metcalf will be playing elsewhere come next season, the same can’t be said for longtime teammate Tyler Lockett.
The veteran was released by the team on Wednesday, not long before his teammate’s trade request became public.
The wide receiver spent 10 seasons with Seattle.
He was a pest against the Cardinals, recording 1,010 yards and nine touchdowns on 71 catches (97 targets) across 20 games. Seattle went 13-6-1 during that span.
