Alisson Becker's sensational display on Wednesday night left pundits in awe of the Brazilian No 1, after a crucial performance in Liverpool's 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds endured heavy pressure on the night, with the French titans enjoying 70.5 per cent possession and having an astounding 10 shots on target in the Champions League clash.

After having a goal disallowed in the first half, PSG were by far the better side in the first leg, but with three minutes of normal time to play Harvey Elliott was brought on to score the only goal of the game within just 47 seconds.

It was heartbreak for PSG, who had pushed Liverpool all the way, but just couldn't find a way through Liverpool's fantastic goalkeeper Alisson.

In total, the Brazilian star made nine saves, five of which came off shots from inside the box, in a performance that undoubtedly ensured his side took the one-goal margin back to Anfield, where they will surely have the upper hand.

After the game, TNT Sports pundits Rio Ferdinand and Steve McManaman hailed the Liverpool stopper's night under the lights in Paris, after he kept the PSG forwards at bay.

Alisson put in one of the great performances in the Champions League on Wednesday night

Former Man United legend Rio Ferdinand claimed Alisson made his work 'look easy' at PSG

'He is an outstanding goalkeeper, we have always known that,' began former Reds icon McManaman.

'But he has never been worked as hard as tonight, he stood up to everything.'

And former Man United defender Ferdinand was equally taken aback by the quality on show from Alisson.

'It is the most saves he has ever made In a game for Liverpool. He made them all look so easy and that is a sign of a top class goalkeeper.

'He does what needs to be done at the right time and puts points on the board for his team.'

He added: 'Liverpool don’t have to be at their best to win games and that is scary for other teams.

'Who is going to be the hero? Becker steps up. You need to find different ways to win games. It can’t always be Salah.'

But the two former stars on punditry duty were by no means the only ones to recognise what a special performance the Liverpool goalkeeper had put in.

The goalkeeper made an impressive nine saves to keep a clean sheet under heavy pressure

Alisson himself remarked that he felt he had played the best game 'of my life' after the final whistle, and spoke of how it was a team effort, rather than his heroics, that saw the Reds through the clash.

'It was probably the performance of my life,' he admitted after the game. 'The manager was telling us how hard it would be to play against PSG, how good they are with the ball and that we would have to be ready to suffer. We knew what was coming.

‘We worked hard. We gave away so many chances. All the efforts the team put in makes my job easier. Then at the end Harvey coming in and scoring the goal, it is a great story for us. A great night.’

Former goalkeeping legend Peter Schmeichel added on Alisson: ‘I think this is one of the best goalkeeping displays I've ever seen in my life.’
