Chet Holmgren Sends Massive Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Message to NBA

In case you're not aware by now, Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is good at basketball.

Like, really good.

In his most recent outing, a 137-128 win over the Houston Rockets, Gilgeous-Alexander scored 51 points. He finished 18-for-30 from the field (60%) and was a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line.

It was the fourth time the Kentucky product has eclipsed the 50-point mark this season. No other player has more than one such performance.

As a result of his great play this season, the Thunder are atop the Western Conference with a record of 50-11.

The Thunder have been famous for doing interviews as a team after wins, no matter which player is being interviewed.

The camaraderie is something to note, as they truly have each other's backs and go to bat for each other when needed.

Chet Holmgren sends a message to the league regarding Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Chet Holmgren will be a key contributor going into the playoffs.

He was asked if he's had time to reflect on the season that Gilgeous-Alexander has put together.

"It's just another thing that we're not surprised by," Holmgren said. "I think he's the MVP of the league, and that's what the MVP does. You guys might be surprised, but we aren't. We see how hard he works, and clearly, it's paid off."

While teammates would be happy for Gilgeous-Alexander, the team's sights remain on winning.

"We're very wrapped up in continuing to do better every single day," Holmgren said. "I feel like we have a long way to go before we get there."

Asked Chet this morning if he's had time to reflect on the season SGA is putting together:

Holmgren missed a significant amount of the season. He missed games from Nov. 11 through Feb. 5. Now that he's back in the saddle, he's been able to see up close the level that Gilgeous-Alexander is performing.

Now fully healthy, it'll be interesting to see what kind of run the Thunder can go on to end the season.
