Jason Kidd Sends Strong Message About Kyrie Irving Before Mavericks-Bucks

The Dallas Mavericks are ridden with injury issues heading into Wednesday night's matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks.

During the first quarter of Monday night's loss to the Sacramento Kings, All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving suffered a non-contact injury to his left knee on a drive to the basket. Upon further testing, it was discovered that Irving suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

With injuries for Irving, Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, Derek Lively, Caleb Martin, Dante Exum, P.J. Washington and Jaden Hardy, the Mavericks have just eight players for Wednesday night's matchup against the Bucks.

Dallas head coach Jason Kidd addressed these injury issues during a pregame press conference - specifically regarding the absence of Irving.

"As much as we're going to miss [Kyrie Irving] and his leadership, understand we have a game here to play tonight in Milwaukee," Kidd said. "We have eight guys. We've got to focus on the present. The guys will be prepared and we've got to find a way to win a game."

"No one feels sorry for us. This is a business," Kidd added. "We have a job and a responsibility to go out and play. It's a real simple message. Guys are going to get a great opportunity to play that maybe wouldn't have gotten as much time. We have 20 games left and we've got to find a way to put our best foot forward."

The Mavericks are 6-7 since trading away franchise centerpiece Luka Doncic last month. After losing four of their last five games, the team currently sits on the cusp of playoff contention with the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference.

Wednesday night's game against the Bucks will tipoff at 8 p.m. EST.
