On March 5, State Minister for Foreign Affairs FUJII Hisayuki hosted a reception for former international students who are visiting Japan to attend the 5th Japan Alumni Conference. The overview of the event is as follows.
At the outset, State Minister Fujii, as the host of the event, made a speech and, in light of the successful conclusion of the 5th Japan Alumni Conference, he extended his appreciation for the daily efforts made by each member of the former international students with a view to fostering relations between their home countries and Japan. Mr. Fujii also stated that the network built by former international students to Japan, who have experienced the importance of accepting cultural differences at first hand and understanding others through studying in Japan, is valuable asset to Japanese diplomacy.
In response, the representative of former international students who participated in the Conference delivered a speech in reply, expressing his gratitude for the invitation and stating that through this meeting, every single one of participants from all over the world was able to share his/her knowledge and experience, and gained excellent know-how in developing his/her associations.
Subsequently, Mr. Fujii talked individually to former international students from each of the countries and heard how they are making the most of their study in Japan for respective activities. He also expressed his hope that the network built by former international students would be further valued through their attendance at this Conference.

Japan Alumni Conference is a gathering of former international students to Japan who have returned to their home countries and are now active in respective countries, making use of their experience of studying in Japan.
The purpose of the Conference is to consolidate the network and interest of former international students to Japan as well as to promote the activities of alumni associations in various countries or regions and strengthen horizontal links that have been accumulated at the national and regional levels by mutually sharing the knowledge of relevant associations.
