Professional sports are one of the most cutthroat industries in America. Fans develop attachments to players and players do the same with the cities they work in, but at the end of the day of the day they still have jobs to do.
Los Angeles Chargers fans were reminded harshly of the harsh realities of the business on Wednesday, according to one prominent NFL insider.
“BREAKING: The #Chargers are releasing pass-rusher Joey Bosa after seven seasons. The move saves $25.3M in salary cap space,” reported Ari Meirov Friday evening.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Depending on the cost the chiefs should be in on this one,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Releasing a great player to make cap space is bad for business, idc,” another fan added.
“GET THAT MAGA SUPPORTER ON MY TEAM RN!” one fan added.
“Smart move for the chargers that dude was massively over paid and over rated. I know everyone pretty much makes the pro bowl but how did he make it with 5 sacks,” someone else added.
“Thanks Joey for the memories and the highlights. Too many injuries and too many missed games but he will be missed. Hope he finds a good landing spot. And this frees up space to trade for DK hehe,” wrote someone else.
It’ll be interesting to see where Bosa ends up.
