Arsenal were previously linked to the Bundesliga winger in the January transfer window.
One of the positions that Arsenal are set to improve in the summer is at the winger position due to their lack of squad depth there this season.
Both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli remain out injured and have both missed time this season, meaning that Mikel Arteta has had to turn to other options.
The Arsenal boss will hope to add a couple more attackers in the summer to build a squad capable of winning a Premier League title, and they were linked to a Bundesliga winger in the January transfer window. He has now attracted interest from rivals.
Kingsley Coman could join Liverpool and Newcastle
Arsenal were linked to signing Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman last summer, with the Frenchman looking more likely to leave Bayern this year. The 28-year-old is under contract at Bayern until 2027, but after struggling for consistency this season under manager Vincent Kompany, he could be on the move with preferred destinations reported as the Premier League or La Liga in Spain.
According to Caught Offside, Arsenal aren’t the only Premier League side to be eyeing up a move for Coman, as Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham have all been linked. The report states that Bayern could sell him for around £37 million in the summer transfer window and that Liverpool and Newcastle are both tracking the Frenchman.
He’s made 32 appearances for the German club this season, scoring six goals and contributing four assists, and the report suggests that he’d be open to a Premier League move amid his dip in form. He attracted the attention of Arsenal last summer, but the Gunners decided against making a move for him - however, they may be keen to sign him this year amid their injury problems this season under Arteta.
Coman could be a cheaper alternative to £48m winger
Coman isn’t the only winger that Arsenal have been linked with as they look to improve at the position. They have also been heavily linked to Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao since last summer. Williams has a £48 million release clause attached to his contract that Arsenal could pay to land him without obstacle in the summer.
However, the Spaniard is less proven in the top leagues compared to Coman and could provide more of a risk due to his age of just 21. If the Gunners wanted to make a ‘safer’ signing, they could add Coman for over £10 million less, which would also be beneficial for Profit and Sustainability Rules. Williams caught the eye of many during Euro 2024, and has continued his form for Bilbao, making 30 appearances in all competitions this season, with five goals and seven assists.
