The most-voted candidate in Romania’s annulled election now faces accusations of extremism and sedition. Călin Georgescu’s case is more than a legal battle – it’s a test of whether Romania’s institutions can withstand the forces threatening democracy in Central Europe.
The most-voted presidential candidate in the first round of Romania’s election, Călin Georgescu, is now under criminal investigation for multiple serious charges, including incitement against the constitutional order, dissemination of false information and the formation of a fascist, racist or xenophobic organisation.
