Current, former Seahawks pay tribute to Tyler Lockett following release

A whirlwind day for the Seattle Seahawks organization began with the financially understandable but still difficult decision to release franchise icon Tyler Lockett.

Here’s what Lockett wrote at the time of his release.

I really enjoyed being in Seattle! I met so many great people and captured so many great memories! The 12’s really make this place meaningful! Although, my time on the Seahawks may have run its course I’m thankful for everything!!God gets all the glory forever!!!! pic.twitter.com/cywZBDhOVR

“I really enjoyed being in Seattle!” Lockett wrote. “I met so many great people and captured so many great memories! The 12’s really make this place meaningful! Although, my time on the Seahawks may have run its course I’m thankful for everything!! God gets all the glory forever!!”

With Lockett’s release made official in Wednesday’s NFL transaction wire, he’s free to sign with whichever team offers him a deal as soon as possible.

Lockett intends to continue his playing career, but don’t forget that he’s also a licensed real estate agent, so he’s definitely going to still be in the Seattle-area trying to sell you some of the metro’s finest properties.

The Seahawks wasted no time paying tribute to Lockett in a special video package.

Then there were a slew of current and former Seahawks who showed their appreciation for Tyler, including safeties Julian Love and Quandre Diggs, recently retired running back Rashaad Penny, wide receiver David Moore, and quarterback Russell Wilson. You know you’re itching to look back at classic Russ-to-Tyler magic as you’re reading this.

And lastly, from an original Seahawks receiver and the current radio play-by-play voice himself, Steve Raible.

Thank you Tyler. You will forever be one of the greatest, most clutch Seahawks.. best teammates.. and finest individuals ever. You will always be family.

Thanks for everything, Tyler. There will be more time for tributes and moments of celebration in the days to come.
