On February 28, Consul General Zhao Xiuzhen visited Maylong Enterprise, a leading durian export company in Davao. Joining her were Ms. Marie Ann M. Constantino, the Regional Technical Director for Operations of Philippine Department of Agriculture in the Davao Region (DA-11), Ms. Flor de Hasmin C. Bayo, OIC-Regional Manager of the BPI-PQS Port of Davao, Mr. Bom Sales, the representative of Chairman of the Mindanao Development Authority(MinDA), Mr. Larry Miculob, President of the Durian Exporters Association of the Philippines (DEAP).

Consul General Zhao stated that China continues to expand its high-level opening-up, bringing more opportunities for win-win cooperation to countries around the world including the Philippines. As the world’s largest importer and consumer of durian, China’s vast market offers significant development potential for the Philippine durian industry. The prospects for agricultural cooperation between the two countries are promising. The Chinese Consulate General in Davao will continue to strengthen cooperation with Philippine government departments and business associations including DA-11, and leverage international platforms such as the China International Import Expo (CIIE) to promote exchanges and interactions, deepen bilateral agricultural cooperation, and benefit the people of both countries.
